SCU COVID-19 Loan Assistance Program

On March 16, 2020, the Governor of West Virginia declared a state of emergency in all WV counties in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) national health emergency.In consideration to the many recent developments and actions taken related to this event, The State Credit Union (SCU) recognizes challenges will lie ahead for our members in these uncertain times.Accordingly, SCU is offering the following programs in response to this state of emergency:

  • Consumer Payment Extension Program – If you are facing a financial hardship related to sickness in your family or workplace closures due to COVID-19 and you contact SCU, we will offer a payment extension program for up to 60-days if requested beginning March 20, 2020 through April 30, 2020 and we will continue to evaluate with considerations to extend this program.
  • Late Fees on Consumer and Consumer Real Estate Loan Suspension Program – Beginning in March 20, 2020, SCU will suspend charging late fees on consumer loan payments. This suspension is effective through April 30, 2020 and we will continue to evaluate with considerations to extend this program.
  • Homeowner Assistance –If you are having difficulty making a mortgage loan payment, please contact a Mortgage Loan Specialist at 304-558-0566 to discuss possible solutions.
  • Financial Relief Loan Program – Up to $2,500 loan with no origination fees and special rates may be available with a 12-month repayment amortization. All loans subject to credit approval.

COVID-19 Measures Taken by The State Credit Union

We would like to communicate to you the measures that the State Credit Union is taking to ensure the health and safety of our members, employees, and members of our community during the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

We are following all of the recommended employer strategies set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and continue to be proactive in our efforts.

We are stressing preventive action with our staff, which includes working remotely, keeping away from those who are sick, frequent hand washing, and proper respiratory etiquette. We also have increased the cleaning and sanitizing efforts of the credit union.

We are proud to have technology and a culture of flexibility that enables our members to efficiently and effectively conduct their financial business remotely. We encourage you to use the drive thru facility and our online services such as net branch online banking, mobile deposit, online loans and bill pay services which have 24/7 account access. If you have an appointment, or were planning to visit our credit union, please call us instead if you experiencing any of the following:

  • You are exhibiting any cold or flu like symptoms
  • You have an underlying health condition, or care for someone who does

The above policy will be in effect through March 31, 2020, at which time we will assess the current situation, and determine the appropriate next steps.

While we have made adjustments focused on the containment of COVID-19, we would like to emphasize that we will continue serving members during this challenging time, and will remain open even if state and municipalities temporarily close.
